2017 WALK WITH HOPE

Brett MacIntyre

Let me start off by thanking all those who have donated the last two years and thank you to all those donating this year. L'Arche Daybreak
celebrates the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. They have a great campus in Richmond Hill containing workshops like the Woodery and Craft Studio. L'Arche was founded in 1964 by Canadian humanitarian and social visionary, Jean Vanier. Distressed by the institutionalization and the isolation and loneliness of people with intellectual disabilities, Jean Vanier invited two men from an institution to live with him in a small house. He called the house ''L'Arche,'' a French word for ''The Ark”. Jean Vanier recently received the Templeton award following in the footsteps of Desmond Tutu, Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa and others who have won the award.

Our thanks for your contribution and for helping this important cause.
